Pokemon Base Stat Changes Across Generations
Game Freak has rebalanced base stats in several major waves. This tracker documents 40 confirmed stat changes, showing exactly what each Pokemon's stats were before and after the adjustment. If you are playing an older game, these values directly affect your calculations.
Gen VI: The Big Rebalance
Generation VI brought the largest batch of buffs, targeting many Gen I Pokemon that had fallen behind. Pikachu gained +10 to both Defense and Special Defense. Alakazam picked up +10 Special Defense. Golem received +10 Attack. These changes were designed to bring classic favorites closer to modern power levels without full redesigns.
Gen VII and Beyond
Gen VII continued the trend with targeted buffs, some quite significant. Farfetch'd jumped from 65 to 90 Attack (+25), and Masquerain gained +20 to both Special Attack and Speed. Most changes are buffs in the +5 to +25 range, but a few Pokemon like Cresselia received nerfs (Special Defense dropped from 130 to 120). Always verify which generation's stats apply to your game.
