A Nuzlocke in Pokemon FireRed is 27 capped fights and 77 first encounters. The caps below are the highest level in each boss's party, the encounter odds are the game's slot tables, and the tracker enforces one catch per route with the dupes clause if you want it.

The rules

standard, and what hardcore adds

Standard

A Pokemon that faints is dead: release it or box it forever. Only the first wild Pokemon met in each area may be caught; fail the catch and the area is done. Nickname everything. The dupes clause, which most runs add, lets you skip a first encounter you already own (or whose family you own) and take the next new species instead.

Hardcore

Standard, plus: no Pokemon may be trained above the next boss's highest level (the caps below), no healing items in battle, and battles on Set rather than Shift so a KO does not hand you a free switch. Gifts, statics and trades count as the area's encounter if they come first.
