Evolution
3 stagesEvolves into Butterfree at level 10.
Evolve now or wait
from the game's learnsets and the relearner ruleMetapod evolves at level 10. Nothing is lost by evolving straight away: every move Metapod learns after that, Butterfree learns too. Butterfree learns 9 moves of its own after that: Poison Powder at 13, Stun Spore at 14, Sleep Powder at 15, Supersonic at 18, Whirlwind at 23, Gust at 28, Psybeam at 34, Safeguard at 40, Silver Wind at 47.
Rule the game applies: the Move Relearner on Two Island (he takes two Tiny Mushrooms or one Big Mushroom) teaches only the level-up moves of the form you hand him, at or below its current level. Delaying an evolution costs the evolved form's higher base stats for every level you wait; a move you barely use is not worth that.
