The best Cobblemon modpack for most players is Cobbleverse, a full Pokemon adventure with gyms, regions and every Pokemon catchable. The official Cobblemon modpack is the right starting point if you want the base mod, and Academy 2.0, Delta and the rest below each cover a different way to play. Every entry lists the loader, Minecraft version and platform so you know it will actually run before you download, current as of August 2026.

Cobbleverse
The closest thing to a complete Pokemon game inside Minecraft. You travel through Kanto, Johto, Hoenn and Sinnoh with custom gyms, animated gym leaders, Pokemon Centers and Poke Marts, and all 1025 Pokemon are catchable including legendaries (a shiny Rayquaza waits in the End). Hostile mobs and hunger are off by default so the focus stays on training, and it ships a custom reactive soundtrack, Mega Evolution and Z-Moves, and up to 1800 PC slots for a living dex.
Cobblemon Official Modpack
Maintained by the Cobblemon team itself, this is the pack to start with if you want Cobblemon as designed: the mod plus performance and quality-of-life additions, nothing that changes the balance. It tracks the current release (Cobblemon 1.7.3 on 1.21.1 as of August 2026) and comes in separate Fabric and NeoForge editions, so it also works as a clean base to build your own pack on.
Cobblemon Academy 2.0
The current pack in the Academy line by PeteZahHutt, following Star Academy (726k downloads) and Cobblemon Academy (401k), both now marked legacy. It overhauls worldgen with new biomes and hundreds of hand-placed structures, adds a proper economy, ranked ladder battles with matchmaking, Mega Evolution and a Safari dimension where you catch with a limited ball budget. The wilderness is passive-only, with danger concentrated in guarded loot structures.
Cobblemon Delta
A lightweight pack that pairs Cobblemon 1.7.3 with performance and quality-of-life mods and comfortably runs on 4GB of RAM. It doubles as the client for the Cobblemon Delta server, which offers gyms, raids, dungeons, Wonder Trade and a GTS, but it plays fine solo too. A good pick if Cobbleverse or Academy stutter on your machine.
Pokemon Elysium
Originally built for the Pokemon Elysium server, this pack wraps Cobblemon in a low-tech steampunk world with a broad mod selection beyond the Pokemon side. It stays on older Minecraft versions (1.19.2 and 1.20.1), so it uses an earlier Cobblemon release, but the atmosphere and world design still hold up if you want something with a distinct look.
Cobblemon Expanded (by Jonathan)
Fills in the features base Cobblemon is still missing for a solo playthrough: Pokemon towns generate in the world, NPC gym leaders give you someone to battle, and you can ride Pokemon, trigger Mega Evolutions and collect plushies. If you want the gym-badge loop without joining a server, this is the most direct way to get it.
Cobblemon Optimized
The pitch is simple: all 1028 species obtainable, including legendaries and Mega Evolution, in a pack tuned for frame rate. It bundles the sidemods that add models for species Cobblemon has not officially shipped yet, so dex completion is actually possible. Little else is added, which keeps load times short.
Cobblemon Islands
The client pack for the Cobblemon Islands server, where you advance across themed islands with raids, quests, Teras, Z-Moves, Megas and Dynamax. Notable as one of the few packs still offering a Forge edition alongside Fabric, which matters if the rest of your mod library is Forge-only on 1.20.1.
Cobblemon x Create
Combines Cobblemon with Create, ComputerCraft-style tinkering and a set of compatible addons, so you can automate berry farming, item production and base logistics between battles. One of the stronger NeoForge options now that most Cobblemon packs have settled on Fabric.
Cobblemon Apex
A deliberately small pack of around 90 hand-picked mods focused on performance and a clean gameplay loop. It sits between the official pack and the big adventure packs: more content than base Cobblemon, but without the hundreds of mods that slow loading and clutter the interface.
How to install a Cobblemon modpack
- Install the Modrinth app or the CurseForge app, depending on where the pack is hosted (the table above lists the platform for each).
- Search the pack name, click install, and the launcher downloads the correct loader, Cobblemon version and every bundled mod. You never install Fabric or NeoForge by hand.
- Give the pack at least 4GB of RAM in the launcher settings; 6GB is safer for the larger adventure packs like Cobbleverse and Academy 2.0.
- Launch and create a world, or use the Multiplayer menu if the pack ships with a home server. Updates arrive through the same launcher with one click.
Frequently asked questions
Which Cobblemon modpack is the best?
Cobbleverse is the best pick for most players in 2026: it turns Minecraft into a full Pokemon adventure with gyms, regions and all 1025 Pokemon, and it has the downloads to match. Pick the official Cobblemon modpack if you want the base mod as designed, Cobblemon Academy 2.0 for structured progression and exploration, or Cobblemon Delta if your PC is on the weaker side.
Do Cobblemon modpacks run on Forge?
Mostly no. Modern Cobblemon targets Fabric and NeoForge; Forge support ended with the 1.20.1 versions. Most packs are Fabric, the official pack also ships a NeoForge edition, and Cobblemon Islands is one of the few still offering a Forge build on 1.20.1.
Is Myths and Legends a modpack?
No, Myths and Legends is a Cobblemon sidemod with over 2.3 million downloads that adds key items and spawn conditions for legendary and mythical Pokemon. Many packs in this list bundle it, so you usually get its legendary encounters without installing anything extra.
Can you play these modpacks with friends?
Yes. Delta, Islands and Elysium each connect to their own public server out of the box, and any pack here can run on a self-hosted or rented server as long as everyone installs the same pack version. For public multiplayer options, see our Cobblemon servers guide.
Download counts and versions were checked in early August 2026 on Modrinth and CurseForge. Prefer playing with other people on a public server? See our Cobblemon server guide.
