Pokémon catch locations and wild encounter tables

Not every Pokémon can be found in the wild, but 685 species have encounter data spread across multiple game versions. This tool pulls up every location, method, and rate for any Pokémon you search, so you know exactly where to hunt.

What each encounter entry shows

  • Location - the specific route, cave, or area name
  • Method - walking in grass, surfing, fishing (Old/Good/Super Rod), headbutting, Rock Smash, and more
  • Version - which game version the encounter applies to
  • Level range - the minimum and maximum wild level
  • Encounter rate - the percentage chance per step or interaction

Version filtering

Many Pokémon have different encounter tables depending on the game. Filter by version to see only the data relevant to your playthrough. Versions span from Gen I (Red, Blue, Yellow) through Gen VII, covering the core series titles where wild encounter data is available.

Reading the rate column

Each rate cell is shaded on a green scale: the stronger the fill, the more often that slot comes up. A 1% slot sits almost black against the table, a 40% slot glows. Sort by rate to put the reliable slots first, or by level when you need a specific level range for a Nuzlocke or a level cap run.

Pokémon without wild encounter data are typically obtained through evolution, breeding, in-game trades, gifts, or events. The tool notes this when no data is found.
